Welcome to Sudarshanaloka –the "Land of Beautiful Vision"– in the beautiful Tararu valley, just outside of Thames, in the stunning Coromandel Peninsula of New Zealand.

We are a Buddhist retreat centre in the making. At present we have no dedicated building in which to hold retreats. Can you help?

Help build a place of peace and insight

Help build a place of where the practises of loving-kindness and awareness are taught and deepened.

There are many good reasons to donate.

We have had these 240 acres of beautiful land for nearly thirteen years. However, in all that time there has been one basic problem which has undermined our efforts: we have no retreat centre building.

We are very close to having enough money to build a facility capable of accommodating up to 20 people.

We have the architectural plans. We have planning permission, and volunteers willing to help build. A lot of money has been raised already. We are very nearly there. Simply put, we are just a bit short on cash.

We have in fact now decided to go ahead and start building as of early Febraury 2006. But we still need the last NZ $40,000 if we're going to complete the job. Can you help?

In keeping with Buddhist principles the building will be environmentally low-impact.

Sudarshanaloka is run by a charity called the Sudarshanaloka Trust.

The building we hope to build is intended to be available not only for Buddhist retreats, but also as a place of calm and spiritual re-connection for the local community, and for other groups to use as well. Community groups will be welcome to hire the retreat centre out for events and small conferences.
